BATAVIA — The number of active COVID-19 cases climbed over a four-day period in Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties, while the number of cases in Livingston County decreased from a week ago.

A total of 501 active cases were reported Thursday in the three counties. That compares to 414 such cases reported on Monday.

Orleans County had the most active cases with 217. Genesee County had 206 such cases.

In the meantime, the number of active cases decreased over a week-long period in Livingston County. A total of 89 active cases were reported, compared to 124 on Oct. 1.

Health departments for the GLOW counties provide updates on different schedules, making direct, day-to-day comparisons incomplete.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the most recent data:

n Genesee County — From Monday to Thursday, Genesee County reported 92 new positive cases for a total of 6,435, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Nine of 206 active cases are hospitalized.

There are 72 new recoveries for a total of 5,623.

Genesee County reported a total of 132 deaths.

A total of 32,703 people, or 56.9 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 30,296.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 7.4 percent.

n Orleans County — From Monday to Thursday, Orleans County reported 97 new cases for a total of 4,065 positive cases.

The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Of the 217 active cases, six is hospitalized.

There are 52 new recoveries for a total of 3,419. Orleans County has 86 total deaths.

A total of 21,236 people, or 52.3 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 19,537.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 8 percent.

n Wyoming County — Seventy-eight active cases were reported Thursday for a total of 3,292 cases since the pandemic began, according to county data.

The number of recoveries is 3,159. There are 55 deaths.

A total of 20,376 people, or 50.8 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,934.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 7 percent.

n Livingston County — As of Friday, Livingston County had 89 active cases, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard. That represents an decrease of 35 cases compared to one week before.

A total of 5,690 cases had been reported since the pandemic began, along with 5,549 recoveries. There have been 63 deaths.

A total of 35,936 people, or 56.8 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Monday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard.

The number of people who have completed the series was 33,833.

A total of 64.9 percent of the county’s population of those at least 18 years old had been vaccinated.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 3.9 percent.
