India reported 28,591 new cases in the last 24 hours, 14 per cent lower than yesterday's cases (33,376). The country also reported 338 deaths over the same period. The test positivity rate stands at 1.87 per cent, less than 3 per cent for last 13 days.

The number of active cases declined by 6,595 in a span of 24 hours to stand at 3,84,921, constituting 1.16 per cent of the total infections, while the COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.51 per cent, the health ministry said.

COVID-19: Bengal reports higher single-day recoveries than fresh cases

West Bengal's Nadia district reported four out of 10 single-day coronavirus fatalities on Sunday, as the state's death count mounted to 18,577, a health department bulletin said.

Recoveries outnumbered daily COVID-19 cases with 751 new infections recorded as against 757 more patients getting discharged, it said.

The state's tally stands at 15,56,908.

The fresh cases include 125 infections from Kolkata and 124 in North 24 Parganas.

According to the bulletin, West Bengal now has 8,187 active cases, after a total of 15,30,144 people were discharged.

803 new COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths in Karnataka

Karnataka logged 803 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths on Sunday, taking the total number of infections to 29,61,735 and the toll to 37,504.

The day also saw 802 discharges, taking the total number of recoveries in the state so far to 29,07,548.

Out of the 803 new cases reported on Sunday, 255 were from Bengaluru Urban, as the city saw 107 discharges and six deaths.

The total number of active cases in the state stood at 16,656.

While the positivity rate for the day was 0.80 per cent, the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 2.11 per cent.

Covid-19 recoveries cross two million mark in Andhra Pradesh

The gross Covid-19 recoveries in Andhra Pradesh crossed the two million mark and touched 20,00,877 as 1,226 infected persons got cured in 24 hours ending 9 am on Sunday.

The cumulative coronavirus cases increased to 20,29,985 with the addition of 1,190 in 24 hours, the latest bulletin said.

The overall Covid-19 toll rose to 13,998 as 11 more people died due to the pandemic in a day.

The number of active cases in the state stood at 15,110, the bulletin said.

245 children among 1,089 new COVID-19 patients in Mizoram

Mizoram's COVID-19 tally breached the 70,000-mark on Sunday as 1,089 more people, including 245 children, tested positive for the infection, which is 364 more than the previous day''s count, a health official said.

The northeastern state's coronavirus death toll rose to 236 as three more people succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) near Aizawl. The daily test positivity rate also rose to 13.98 per cent from 10.73 per cent on Saturday as 7,791 samples were tested, he said.

Gujarat records 16 COVID-19 cases, no deaths; over 3.73 lakh people vaccinated

Gujarat on Saturday reported 16 new COVID-19 cases, taking its infection tally to 8,25,600, while the death toll remained unchanged at 10,082 as no new fatality was recorded, a health department official said.

The recovery count increased by 12 to touch 8,15,356, which is 98.76 per cent of the caseload, leaving the state with 162 active cases. Four patients are in critical condition, the official said.

191 new COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra's Thane

With the addition of 191 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra''s Thane district has gone up to 5,54,404, an official said on Sunday.

Besides these new cases reported on Saturday, the virus also claimed the lives of two more persons, pushing the death toll in the district to 11,340, he said.

According to the Delhi government health bulletin, no fatality was reported due to the disease in the last 24 hours. One death has been reported this month on September 7 due to the disease in the city.

Jharkhand reported seven fresh COVID-19 infections and zero deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the state health department on Saturday, reported ANI. Ranchi added three fresh cases, followed by West Singhbhum with two cases and Latehar and East Singhbhum with one case each. After this, the total cases jumped to nearly 3.5 lakh (3,48,062) including 128 active cases. The death count stood at 5,133 with mortality rate of 1.47 per cent. Also, total recoveries reached 3,42,801 wherein 21 recoveries were logged in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is at 98.48 per cent.
